More Finishes!

Last year I participated in a sew-along with my local quilty BFF, Madonna. Every month we’d make some scrappy blocks and share them via Instagram on the 4th Saturday of the month.

This Cross Plus quilt is a finish from that sew along. I made this scrappilicious quilt for my daughter’s birthday. It was about 5 weeks late, but she loves it!

Her cat loves it too!

Katy quilted it for me…and even blogged about it. 😁

Next up is my Stay Wild Build A Quilt (2020 -2021 4th annual) finish. Build A Quilt is Angela Walters’s version of block of the month. I enjoy BAQ immensely. I’m currently on my 3rd BAQ, but it’s Angela’s 5th Annual. Do you see my little beastie photobomber? His name is Moe.

My long arm locked up when I was almost half way through this quilt. I took it off the frame and attempted to try to finish it on my domestic. I didn’t get very far before I hated what I did. I begged Katy to finish it for me and she obliged. Thanks Katy! 🙏🏼 I have since got Esperanza serviced and she is stitchin’ again.

Speaking of long arms, APQS is giving away another Millie! Apparantly they give one away at least 2x a year. I’ve been faithfully entering everyday.

And last but not least is a baby quilt for my new grand niece. I call it a jellyroll remix. I used various sized 1.5” strips, and quilted it with a simple meander. I really like how it turned out!

The backing is a vintage piece I got from Katy. It worked perfectly!

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, God bless and happy stitchin’!

People do not drift toward Holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated.”– DA Carson

September BOMs+

September went by in a blink! All things considered, I’m pleased w/my productivity. However, sharing and writing about it is a whole other story. Alas, here are my September BOMs and there’s a peak of the 4th project from My Quilty Bucket at the end of this post!

These srappy blocks are from a sew along I’m doing w/my friend Madonna (@sunnybunnyquilts on IG). However, she’s already made a complete quilt w/her Criss Cross Stars. Isn’t it lovely?! And she’s just about ready to put her Cross Plus blocks together.

Meanwhile, I’m still plodding along. Here are my Criss Cross Star blocks. I make 3- 4/month.

My plan for these is to put them on point with cornerstones and sashing for a king size quilt but I have no idea how many blocks I’ll need for that and I no likey the quilty math. These are 9″ blocks but let’s say they’ll end up 8.5″ after I trim them down to matching sizes. I want to use 2″ sashing and 2″ cornerstones. If there’s anyone out there who is a whiz at quilty math, PLEASE tell me how many of these Criss Cross Star blocks I need to make. I’d really appreciate it!

And here are my Cross Plus blocks. These are 15″ blocks and I’m making 36 of them for a queen size quilt for my daughter. I’m at 28 blocks so only 8 more to go!

This is block 10 of 10 for this year’s Build A Quilt. I totally forgot to add marigold splashes in this block but, oh well. All that’s left are the finishing blocks and borders, which I’ve already started on. Build A Quilt 5 starts in mid November. I’d like to have this quilt completed by then. We shall see what happens.

And last but not least is my Yellow Pineapple block for Jen’s Monthly Color Challenge.

Now for that peak at project #4 from My Quilty Bucket.

I pulled Bad Girl Quilt which is an awesome pattern by Southern Charm.

I fell in love w/this quilt pattern when I saw Kathy’s version (@ibtreerock on IG) back in Jan 2019. So far I’ve finished 12 of 18 Andromeda Star blocks. I’m using Aboriginal fabric scraps given to me (at least 4 years ago), along w/varying tones of brown Grunge.

Well, that’s all folks! Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, God Bless and Happy Stitchin’!

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

August BOMs

This year is FLYING by! Not that I’m complaining but it is a challenge to keep up sometimes. I keep telling my kids, the older you get, the faster time moves. My middle son turned 31yrs just a few days ago and my youngest turned 26 yrs in June. They are catching up to me. =)

Without further ado, here are my August BOMs.

I’ll start w/my block for Jen’s Monthly Color Challenge. August’s food inspiration is mushroom and the color is brown. A nephew of a long time friend cultivates gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. There are so many species of mushrooms and they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. You can learn more about his Mushroom Kingdom here or check him out on IG @southwestmushrooms. It’s quite fascinating!

These are the fabrics that called to me for a mushroom block. And surprisingly to myself more than anyone else, I’m still going strong w/the 6″ block.

Next up is block 9 of 10 of Angela Walters’ Build A Quilt BAQ.

There were two options for making this block; templates or paper piece. I opted for paper piece. I really like how it came out!

And for the QAL I’m doing w/Madonna @sunnybunnyquilts, here are my Criss Cross Star blocks…

…and a Cross Plus block. I’m supposed to make 4 of these a month (my own rule for a self-imposed deadline) but I only had one completed by the time I drafted this post. But isn’t it fabulous?!

Stay tuned for my Christmas in July/August post as well as a post about a quilt challenge I entered.

Until next time, God Bless You and Happy Stitchin’!

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2 Timothy 4:2-4 NIV
