Bound and Finished

I am excited to share several finishes w/you today!

This first one is a quilt I started for my sister’s office at her new job. A job she celebrated her 3yr anniversary at this past May! Better late than never right? The pattern is Summer Star Mini by Jera at Quilting in the Rain. I quilted it using a pantograph called Malachite by Urban Elementz while I was visiting Katy.

Next up is an Attic Windows quilt I started last October.  I finished the top right away, but it hung stuck in flimsy status until just recently.

It was quilted by a friend, and up and coming longarm quilter here in the West Valley.

And this quilt was neither pieced nor quilted by me.  However, it is my first original pattern called Straits and Arrows. It was featured in Stash Builder Box in January.  My pattern is available in my Craftsy Pattern Shop.

It was pieced by my good friend Sue, who gave me the flimsy.  I had it quilted by the same friend who quilted Attic Windows.

And last but not least, is a crazy quilt I acquired a few years ago.  I bought a serger from a coworker whose Aunt had recently passed and they threw in all kinds of extras. This was an extra.

Even though it was crazily pieced w/all kinds of funky polyester fabric, I fell in love w/it! It measures 50″ x 100″.

Katy took it home w/her the last time she left AZ and quilted it for me. Thank you, Katy! I picked it up when I visited her in MI.

I LOVE the backing she chose!  It is officially my car quilt for trips to the park and such.

That’s all folks! Thanks for visiting!

Until next time, Happy Quilting and God Bless.

I finally made it to Michigan to visit Katy.

We met through the “blogisphere” when I read she visited her son in AZ. And I was beside myself to learn he lived around the corner from me!

Even though I invited myself to MI, she and her hubby were great sports about it.

She even gave me this t-shirt.

She has a beautiful home and gave me permission to take and post as many pics as I wanted. If there aren’t enough pics in this post, there are more on my Instagram.

There were quilts everywhere!

This tall vintage ladder loaded w/quilts was one of my favorite attractions.

I enjoyed my visit there. My only complaint being how quickly the time flew by.

We spent a lot of time in her phenomenal sewing studio.

She took me around the area. It was divine. All woody and green.

We visited a little light house and climbed the 80+ steps to the top.

To me, the weather was perfect, if a little cloudy.

Katy, I’m very grateful we are friends and  looking forward to visiting again whether here in AZ or in MI.

And I am smitten w/the mitten.

WHOOMP There IT Is! #33 – AQP turns 3 Giveaway!

There are a few things I’m super excited about and want to share today.

The first being, on August 29, 2016, A Quilted Passion turned a whopping 3 yrs! In some ways it seems like it was just yesterday that I started blogging and in others it seems as if it’s been forever! Regardless, it’s because of my wonderful followers and friends that this blog is still around.  In appreciation, I will be doing a giveaway at the end of this post, so stick around.

Something else that has me all kinds of excited is, I met the sweet and talented Katy of Katy Quilts in real life!  It turns out her kids live in AZ and one of them is right around the corner from me! We met at Tropical Smoothie, which is a fave of both of ours, and then she came and visited me in my sewing room!

She even brought me a gift! This lovely modern quilt (lower right) made w/fabric dyed by her own hand! Thank you Katy!

I wouldn’t have been so eager for Katy to visit in my home had I not just had new floors installed!  But they were! Yep. This happened a couple of weeks ago and I love, love, love them!  What do you think? Can you spot my furbabies?

I think now is a good time for the giveaway!  I’m giving away the kit to make this stunning modern quilt top.

It consists of the Reflections quilt pattern by Nancy J. Smith,  2 Benartex Jelly Rolls and a 2 yard cut for the borders and binding.  It makes a quilt top that measures approximately 56″ x 63″. I’ve also thrown in That Purple Thang and a spool of Essential Vareigated Thread by Connecting Threads; color is Ocean Jewels.

For your chance to win this fabulous prize, simply leave a comment on this post telling me how you follow A Quilted Passion (bloglovin’, Instagram, Google Followers (see sidebar ->->->).

I will randomly choose and announce a winner here on the blog on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  If you are a No-Reply blogger, please include your email address in your comment.

**This giveaway is for US residents only**

Oh, I almost forgot! I’m also doing a 2nd giveaway on Instagram! Be sure to enter there too!

Thank you for visiting/following and good luck in the giveaway!
