My Quilty Bucket R1P3

Round 1, Project 3 = HRTs

After sorting/refolding fabric several weeks ago, I pulled my next project and got a Wildcard. A Wildcard means I can make whatever I want that’s not already in My Quilty Bucket or I can pull from the bucket again. I only thought about it for a very little while and couldn’t think of any other project I wanted to make just then, so I pulled again and ended up w/an HRTs ufo which consists of Half Rectangle Triangles that my friend Katy cut for me w/her Accuquilt Studio 2 when I visited her in Michigan in Aug 2017.

I probably should’ve thought on a Wildcard project a little longer and maybe had a looksee on Instagram before I decided to pull another project because this FPP Heart pillow that Madonna made is so lovely! I know better for next time.

The HRTs have been in a shoebox since I returned from my visit in August 2017.

When I opened the shoebox I was delighted to find some other Grunge fabric I forgot I had. I kinda remember adding it to the box after I returned, intending to send it to Katy to cut. I decided to incorporate most of it into the quilt.

I didn’t really have a plan…just made it up as I went along.

And this is what I ended up with.

I did lots of practice FMQ on it.

I decided to give it to my youngest son so I added some Denver Bronco fabric to the back since he’s a big fan. This pic is before warshing.

And this is after, in all its crinkly wonder.

And here are a couple close-ups of my favorite grids of quilting.

I have one more finish to share as well. I recently started a Quilt & Craft Fellowship at my church. We gather the 2nd Saturday of each month and bring whatever crafty projects we’re working on.

This was my “traveling” project. The strippy HTSs are cut-offs, or bonus pieces, from a quilt I made for one of my nieces last year. This quilt with the cute kitty backing will be gifted to my youngest granddaughter on her 5th birthday in August.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, God Bless & Happy Stitchin’!

Pastor Appreciation

Have you ever walked into a quilt store and come across two fabrics that just had to be together in a quilt? Just two? Me neither, until I saw these.

They just spoke, “His & Hers” to me, and immediately I knew which couple I was making this quilt for AND exactly which pattern it would be.

The couple; my pastor and his wife. The pattern; Jacob’s Ladder in a Road to Arkansas layout (they are both from Arkansas). And the occasion; Pastor Appreciation, which is this month.

Here is one of the first blocks. Isn’t it just a perfect pairing?

And here’s a pic of it on the design wall.

The completed flimsy from 2 different angles.

The darker fabric reminds me of tire treads which makes it extra fitting for the “Road to Arkansas” layout.

I quilted “Flourish” from edge to edge.

I printed the label on my home printer using a handy dandy video tutorial by TheCraftyGemini. I used Steam-A-Seam to fuse the label to the back of the quilt and then I did a really awful stitch to secure it even more. LOL! I don’t think that label is going anywhere. LOL!

Pastor Appreciation is technically the 2nd Sunday in October but I couldn’t wait so I presented it to them on the 1st Sunday and it was well received.

I’ve been a member and regular attender of Relevant Church of Liberty for 2 years. Pastor Jeff is an anointed teacher and discipler. I am very grateful to be under his tutelage and part of his flock. With all the chaos, hate, and fear that is permeating our nation, I can’t even imagine living without the peace and protection of my savior Jesus Christ or the love and fellowship of my brothers and sisters in Christ.

The one good thing about Covid is that our church services are now live streamed every Sunday at 1030a CT on Facebook & YouTube, which means the message is available to those who can’t attend because of health concerns and it’s further reaching. Anyone, anywhere can watch from their phone or computer. If you don’t already attend church somewhere, or you just need to hear a word of hope, love, and encouragement, tune in. Set your hopes on God. I promise you will receive a relevant, biblical word and sound doctrine. Pastor Jeff also live streams bible study on Wednesday evenings at 7p on Facebook. Also, if there is ever anything you want/need prayer for, I will pray for or with you, just email me. There is power in prayer. Amen!

Thanks for visiting. Until next time Happy Stitchin’ and God Bless!

Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth 2 Timothy 2:14–15 ESV

Gifted Quilts

I made and gifted two quilts in July.

This first one was given as a comfort quilt for a neighbor who had prostate surgery.

The colors are pretty wild but they are masculine enough. I think the yellow/green batik (is that Tiger or Zebra print?) plays fantastically w/the multi-color fabric which makes me think of colorful outer space but I had trouble choosing the fabric for the thin sashing.

I think it turned but good, but honestly I didn’t love it until after I quilted and washed it.

The second quilt I made for a receptionist at my chiropractor’s office as a thank you for a super kind gesture.

The quilts were inspired by this pattern. I quilted both on Esperanza, and practiced free motion quilting inspired by Christina Cameli of @afewscraps. Both quilts were well received.

Until next time, happy stitchin’ and God bless!
