Two Hearts

Eventually, I will have a quilt to display/decorate for every holiday/season, but in the meantime, pillows will have to do!

I love these heart pillows I made for V Day.

The heart block is a free pattern from Amy Smart at Diary of a Quilter.

I quilted the darker one w/straight lines using thin masking tape as a guide.

I did all diagonals in one direction first, then the other.

I quilted the other heart w/a free motion meander. I’m extremely pleased w/the results. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve attempted fmq meander.

Then, I used this tutorial to turn the quilted blocks into pillow covers.

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a great weekend!

An Asian Beauty

There is a rule in my house.  ANYONE who comes over, for whatever reason, MUST visit my sewing room and see the current projects I’m working on.  Period. End of discussion.

So you can imagine how it is for someone who actually lives in my house. I’m constantly calling my middle son in to see what I’m working on.

He is always excited about what I’m working on and gives great feedback.

Anyway, he fell in love w/the Asian fabric I used to make the mug rugs from this post

And he requested I use it to make a Hand Strap Clutch for a special someone.

And not wanting to disappoint, I did it.20170331_205440

Mo Better Blues

After not really feeling my first batch of mug rugs, I decided not to use any of the original Asian fabric after all.

I instead chose these blues, which still give off an Asian vibe. I like these much better.
In addition to the Mock Logs block, I made one called Forest Paths. Both patterns are from Quilt Blocks Galore aka Quilter’s Cache.a955d188-3978-45ea-a379-8c5c9fc5f4f4

It was quite the chore binding the first block, so I opted for a quick turn/birthing method on the second one.  This suited me much better and it’ll be my method of choice for finishing any/all mug rugs I make in the future.72868755-17ca-4e7c-9bca-6c4ca33eb81f

Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. – Col. 3:14-15
