Mo Better Blues

After not really feeling my first batch of mug rugs, I decided not to use any of the original Asian fabric after all.

I instead chose these blues, which still give off an Asian vibe. I like these much better.
In addition to the Mock Logs block, I made one called Forest Paths. Both patterns are from Quilt Blocks Galore aka Quilter’s Cache.a955d188-3978-45ea-a379-8c5c9fc5f4f4

It was quite the chore binding the first block, so I opted for a quick turn/birthing method on the second one.  This suited me much better and it’ll be my method of choice for finishing any/all mug rugs I make in the future.72868755-17ca-4e7c-9bca-6c4ca33eb81f

It Seemed Like A Good Idea

I wanted to make a mug rug for one of my doctors.  Instead of going through any of the many books and magazines I own, (call me lazy),  I hit the internet.

Some of my books

I found this pattern, Mock Logson Quilter’s Cache.

Then I pulled this fabric. Why? Because my doctor is Asian, and this is Asian fabric.

My lovely friend Izola, @throughmyeyes on IG, sent me this beautiful fabric from Japan a few years ago. Thanks, Izola!

I cut enough fabric to make four mug rugs. And even before I started assembly, I wasn’t thrilled w/my fabric choices. It’s a bit overdone. I didn’t have to use ALL the Asian fabric I own in a little mug rug.20170225_110953

But, I sewed all four together anyway.  20170226_193306

I’ll have to force myself to finish at least one of them to see if I like it any better.  I doubt I will.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time, God bless.

WHOOMP There IT Is! #32 – I’m Going to Quiltcon!

First things first…I’m going to Quiltcon east! YAY!

I’m super excited! Please let me know if you are going too.  I’m so looking forward to meeting those of you who are!

Next thing next…

I’ve an eclectic taste.  When it comes to quilting,  ALL pattern varieties excite me and I like traditional as much as I like modern.  However, my first original pattern falls into the modern category.

This is the 1st draft of my pattern, Back and Forth.

I drew it up on graph paper several months ago. A couple of weeks ago I not so quickly figured the math (I don’t like quilty math!) to make a baby quilt to present at my niece’s baby shower.  It’s not an official pattern yet, but when it is, it will be available for purchase and include instruction for at least 2 sizes.

Now it’s your turn to share. What have you been stitchin’?

Instructions: Select all code above, copy it and paste it inside your blog post as HTML
