April BOMs

Happy Spring Y’all! It’s gorgeous here in Missouri, even if I don’t have pics to prove it. I do have this pic of a snowstorm we had on 4/20/2021 though.

Even though it was a lot of snow and coming down real good, it didn’t stick to the streets or walks AND it was completely gone and sunny by that afternoon. If you gotta have a Spring snowstorm, we couldn’t have asked for a better one.

This month I’m starting w/the blocks from a personal monthly sew along I am doing w/my in-real-life-friend Madonna, here in Missouri. We’re making scrappy Cross Plus and Criss-Cross Star blocks. You can see her sunny, cheery blocks on Instagram @sunnybunnyquilts.

Here are mine. I FINALLY decided on a size and plan for my Cross Plus blocks. I’m sticking w/the 15″ block and doing a controlled scrappy w/dark backgrounds. They will become a queen size quilt for my daughter’s birthday in January.

I went ahead and cut out all the corner and background blocks last weekend.

And here are my two Criss-Cross Star blocks.

Next is the Monthly Color Challenge block. April’s food/color is Cherries/Red. This is the 6″ block which turned out waaaaay better than I thought it was going to.

And last but not least is the April Build A Quilt/BAQ block.

That wraps up this post. Until next time, God Bless & Happy Stitchin’!

A Thread for Life

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Cor. 1:20-22NIV

Double Aniversary Giveaway!

Hi All. Long time, no post! Every time I write a post I tell myself I’m never going to let so much time pass between posts. But here I am again, 12 weeks later, and I only have selfishness to blame.  No matter what’s going on in my life, whenever I have free time, stitchin’ always wins!

And I’ve been very active on the stitchin’ front! If you don’t believe me, check my Instagram. It used to be my preference to share my makes on the blog first and then on IG.  But since the blog posts are so FEW and so FAR between, I realized the better way is to share my makes/progress on Instagram as I go, and then catch up the blog posts every so often.  With that being said, I will soon get the blog caught up on my makes, but for now let’s talk about this giveaway!

Right after I moved to Kansas City last August I realized I missed my “planned” annual giveaway.  I think I’ve done a giveaway every year for my blog anniversary but last year I had just moved here and work was a bear, and it just slipped my mind. As soon as I remembered, I decided I’d do a Double Anniversary Giveaway to celebrate the 6th anniversary of my blog AND my first year in KC, so I’ve been collecting things ever since.

Originally I planned to do one giveaway on the blog and one on IG, but now it’s just going to be one good one on Instagram.

Here’s what I’m giving away.

A gorgeous floral bouquet & butterfly panel, 5 half-yard cuts of coordinating fabric curated by yours truly, a junior jelly roll by Moda, a pair of warm crochet scissors, plus a bunch of other goodies!

For your chance to win:

  1. You must follow me on Instagram – click on the Follow Via Instagram link in the sidebar to get there quickly. —->
  2. Like my giveaway post on Instagram
  3. Tag 2 quilty friends in one comment on my giveaway post on Instagram
  4. For a bonus entry, repost my giveaway pic using the hashtag #aqpdag

I will randomly choose and announce a winner on this blog post and on Instagram around noon(CT) on Labor Day, September 2, 2019, which is already next Monday!  ***This giveaway is now closed.  The  lucky winner is Rosanne Carr Atkinson @quilty_me_

Thank you all for being my friend and reading my blog!

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop?

The Midwest Abode

Hi Y’all! Long time, no post. It has been 16 weeks since my last post. Unbelievable! Needless, to say I’ve been working a lot. It’s what I came here for. But work is not ALL I do. I make it to the gym a few times a week, take my dog for a walk at least once a week, go to church and bible study, shop, go out to eat. I do the latter less often than I used to (for a few different reasons) but I do love me some KC barbecue! And who knew I’d have such an affinity for Indian Cuisine?! It’s my most favorite comfort food ever!

A friend came to visit in February.

She’s a quilter who had never been to Missouri, so naturally I took her to Missouri Star Quilt Co in Hamilton, where she shopped ’til she almost dropped! We also visited Angela Walter’s shop here in Liberty, Quilting is My Therapy .

My friend actually worked for Hallmark for many years in AZ so I took her to the Hallmark Visitors Center AND we toured the Arabia Steamboat Museum. We had a grand time.

On the day she left, I got another visitor. A semi-permanent one. My youngest son Joshua.

He’s been with me ever since. He’s working (more in the last 3 mos than he has in the last 3 years! Praise God!) and is enjoying living in the Midwest.

And speaking of living in the Midwest, I bought a house! The one I fell in love with at first sight back in August.

Here are a few more pics of the unique beauty that is now our home.

And look at the new sewing space in the basement! There’s even an electric fireplace! I had to decorate my design wall with some orphan blocks to liven it up until I can get going on a project which hopefully will be soon!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the tour.

And Thank You Lord for allowing me to be the steward of such a lovely abode.
