A New Chapter

There have been some changes in my life since last I posted. No, I didn’t get married. though I am hopeful that will happen someday. No, these changes include selling a house, buying another, and moving to a different state!

The idea for this move began in late May when I learned an opportunity within our company was coming available.

Me being me, not afraid of change and always ready for a new adventure, said of course I’d consider it.

Fast forward five months and I’m now a resident of the great state of Wisconsin!

I also have a new grandson! My middle son, who lives in Albuquerque, had his first baby in October and I get to meet him at Thanksgiving! Isn’t he precious!

Stay tuned for another BIG announcement!

Finishes and Such Not Yet Shared

There were several months not long ago when I wasn’t very active on the blogging front, but I was somewhat productive on the quilting front.

Here are a few finishes and other thangs I haven’t shared w/y’all.

This Disappearing Nine Patch was made for my grandbaby Cali who was born last August.

This is my 1st version of Straits and Arrows, and it was made for my great/grand nephew Kyrie, born last September.

Here are 3 more Straits and Arrows flimsies made by some awesome friends who volunteered to test my pattern. The pattern should be available in my pattern shop w/in the next month.

I made this lovely for a little of a close family friend. The pattern is called Kite Flight by Janice Ryan for Robert Kaufman.  My colors remind me of strawberries, bananas and ice cream!20161126_075555

This butterfly fabric was short curtains me and a friend found at Goodwill. I recycled them into long curtains for her nursery.20170122_130057

This is an old Southern Belle quilt I ditched for a friend. It was made by her elderly aunt who passed away a couple of years ago. I love all the different fabric combinations she used.20170122_202418

My grandson started a Jelly Roll Race quilt. I’m trying to get him ready for Kids Sew Camp this Summer which he is finally old enough to attend. He turned 10yrs old in February.20170219_174638

He comes to visit every other weekend. He recently started bringing his Xbox 360 w/him so I decided to make him something nice to transport it in. I found a duffle bag pattern, picked out fabric of his favorite colors and made this awesome bag.20170228_060301And guess what? It’s too small! The Xbox 360 doesn’t even fit! But he loves the bag anyway.

My friend Izola (@throughmyeyes on IG) made me this gorgeous, crocheted shrug. Thanks Izola!37236

My friend Kelly (@mommaneo on IG) gave me this cute Binding Baby (made by @doohiikeydesigns on IG). Thanks Kelly!20170113_211218

My last share of the day is from my friend Katy of KatyQuilts (@katyquilts on IG). She made me this super cute mini.  Thanks Katy!  20170214_123724Katy spent several months in AZ this past winter and I’m going to visit her in Michigan in August. We have plans attend the AQS Quilt Show in Grand Rapids. We’re both super excited about this!

This concludes today’s post. Thanks for visiting!

Works In Progress – Nines and Attic Windows

I currently have several works in progress, but am only sharing two today.

The first is a quilt I’m making for my newest grand Cali, who was born on August 8th.

The pattern is a Disappearing Nine Patch and the fabric collection is Hashmark for Michael Miller. Cali’s quilt will be finished soon!

Me and some friends sew together the 3rd Saturday of each month.  Most of the time we work on our own projects, but occasionally we plan to make the same project.  Last month we decided on an Attic Window quilt inspired by the Missouri Star Quilter’s Attic Window Tutorial.  The tutorial called for a panel, but I didn’t think any of my panels would look good as an Attic Window.

So instead I chose to use this older Springs Industries fabric that I’ve dubbed Flowers in the Meadow.  I think it works perfectly! Don’t you agree?  I’ll be adding borders and hopefully have this finished soon as well.

Until next time, God bless and happy stitichin’!
