WHOOMP There IT Is! #29 – Change

Hi Y’all! I hope today finds you in good spirits and feeling inspired, if not productive.

When I first introduced WHOOMP There IT Is!I said I’d re-evaluate after 3 mos of hosting to decide if I’d continue w/the weekly linky party.  It’s quite the commitment and I wasn’t sure I was up for it.  Three months came and went in January and “re-evaluating” the linky party wasn’t a part of it.  However, I have been thinking about it quite a bit lately and I’ve come to a decision.   The party will go on, but it’s changing from a weekly party to a monthly party.  The new party day will be the 1st Friday of every month.  So, welcome to my first monthly, WHOOMP There IT Is! linky party!

Moving right along…

I haven’t been super productive lately, but I did manage to finish the tops of the commission quilts I’m working on; an alternating 4-patch and a disappearing 9-patch.

In other unproductive news…

The number chosen for April in the UFO Challenge 2016 was #3.  My #3 project is this 12″ square paper-pieced rooster block.  I didn’t work on it at all during the month but I was planning to get it done for show & tell at our monthly QA meeting. No problem, it’s one 12″ square! So yesterday afternoon, 3 1/2 hrs before the meeting, I finally started.  I cut out all the paper pieces and got my fabrics in order and then I hit a wall.  I totally forgot how to start!  After finishing Gossamer, I thought for sure paper-piecing was ingrained in my brain for life, but I was wrong and I had nothing for show and tell. I guess paper piecing is a “use it or lose it” thing for me.  I’m very thankful Sue is giving me a refresher course next week.

Rooster

This month’s Challenge # is 4.  My # 4 project is this small flimsy made w/1″ strings sewn together in Jelly Roll Race fashion.  It will become a bed runner or lap quilt for a friend and I will not wait until the last minute to get started on it!

Other happenings…

I ordered these adorable wooden buttons and tags from All This Wood on Etsy.  They have fantastic customer service, super fast shipping and quality workmanship. ‘Twas a great experience!

I’m super excited about winning this amazing 1/2yd bundle (middle stack) of Alison Glass’s Sun Print collection on the Fat Quarter Shop’s Instagram giveaway last week. Yay me!  If you like giveaways, Instagram is the place to be!

And one more thing before the linky…

I’m the only one in my immediate family who never needed glasses.  Though I’ve always been proud of my 20/20 vision, I have worn glasses purely as an accessory because I like the way I look in them. And it’s a good thing too, because thanks to presbyopia, I now need to wear them for reading and working on the computer. Today I came to grips w/this old age eye crap and bought my first pair of readers. Now I just have to remember to take them off when I’m not reading or working.

Okay, that’s enough about me.  Pray tell what’s been going on in your neck of the woods.

Almost Forgotten Finishes

I can’t believe this…and I can’t remember if it’s ever happened before…AND it may never happen again, but this is my 2nd post in one week!
Tonight on my blog reading list I saw a TGIFF! post from M-R Charbonneau of Quilt Matters and it reminded me that I have some finishes I haven’t shared w/y’all!
So, without further ado…
Mystery Quilt – started June 2014 finished June 2015

Snap Bags – A recent commission
Things not so finished…
Basket Weave Batik Placemats

This flimsy is a pattern called Modern Lattice by Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts.

It’s a flimsy

This flimsy is a pattern called Vintage Summer (2014) by Jeni Baker of In Color Order. It’s one I’ve been wanting to make for awhile and finally did last weekend.

It’s another flimsy

Today’s finishes…

And yet another on the sewing table…

And last but not least…one of David’s finishes. He turned me this gorgeous seam ripper! It’s made of Koa, which is a Hawaiian wood.
Until next time, Happy Quilting and God Bless!
