April BOMs

Happy Spring Y’all! It’s gorgeous here in Missouri, even if I don’t have pics to prove it. I do have this pic of a snowstorm we had on 4/20/2021 though.

Even though it was a lot of snow and coming down real good, it didn’t stick to the streets or walks AND it was completely gone and sunny by that afternoon. If you gotta have a Spring snowstorm, we couldn’t have asked for a better one.

This month I’m starting w/the blocks from a personal monthly sew along I am doing w/my in-real-life-friend Madonna, here in Missouri. We’re making scrappy Cross Plus and Criss-Cross Star blocks. You can see her sunny, cheery blocks on Instagram @sunnybunnyquilts.

Here are mine. I FINALLY decided on a size and plan for my Cross Plus blocks. I’m sticking w/the 15″ block and doing a controlled scrappy w/dark backgrounds. They will become a queen size quilt for my daughter’s birthday in January.

I went ahead and cut out all the corner and background blocks last weekend.

And here are my two Criss-Cross Star blocks.

Next is the Monthly Color Challenge block. April’s food/color is Cherries/Red. This is the 6″ block which turned out waaaaay better than I thought it was going to.

And last but not least is the April Build A Quilt/BAQ block.

That wraps up this post. Until next time, God Bless & Happy Stitchin’!

A Thread for Life

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Cor. 1:20-22NIV

March BOMs

First up is my Build A Quilt block. After making it, I kinda wished I had used the marigold on these smaller squares, but it will stay as is.

Next up is my Monthly Color Challenge block. March’s color is Red Orange for Yams. This fabric combo brings to mind candied yams.

These first two X Plus blocks are 10.5″. It’s an okay size but I wanted to make a block that uses a lot of 3.5″ squares.

I don’t like quilty math but I actually did it and came up with these 15.5″ blocks. I plan to make my daughter a queen size quilt out of these scrappy blocks and if I use this size, I’ll only need 36 of them! I’m not super thrilled w/either of these blocks but I think when I mix them up w/some really gorgeous ones, I won’t dislike them so much. I felt the same way about some of my Scrappy Trips blocks but when they were all put together, it was total WOW factor!

And last but not least, the 9.5″ Criss Cross Stars blocks. This is a Lori Holt pattern/tutorial. This block is a my 2nd favorite to make after Scrappy Trips.

So that’s all the quilty sew & tell I have for you today. Until next time, God bless and Happy Stitchin’!

As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

February BOMs

Did February fly by as quickly for you as it did for me? Work was kinda crazy this month, then I went on vacation, then my older son came to visit and now February is just about over. Oh well, better late than never for my February BOM progress.

Here is block #4 of Build A Quilt.

Next up is my block for the Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Patterns by Jen. February’s color is Lemon/Bright Yellow. I really like how lemony my block turned out.

And these last two blocks are part of a monthly quiltalong I’m doing w/my in real life friend, @sunnybunnyquilts, who lives just a few miles away from me here in KC.

This Japanese X Plus Block finishes at 12″. I used this tutorial. I made smaller ones last month (they finishe at 7.5″) but I wanted to try bigger. I think this one is too big so next month I’m going for one that finishes at 10″.

And last but not least, my Criss Cross Stars block, a pattern by Lori Holt. This one finishes at 9″.

Thanks for stopping by, until next time, God Bless & Happy Stitchin’!
