It is finally finished!
I honestly couldn’t remember how long ago I’d started this quilt. I knew it was at least 2 years ago and just discovered I started it in January 2015.
So…Through Thick and Thin, my king size, scrappy, mostly batik, log cabin quilt, made with 2.5″ and 1.25″ logs, was only 3 years in the making!
I stopped at forty-two, 15″ blocks even though I knew it wasn’t going to be big enough for my bed. I didn’t want wide borders all around, so I decided sashing was the way to go…even though I’d personally never seen it done on a log cabin quilt. And even w/the sashing, I still needed borders! I added 6″ side borders and 2″ top/bottom borders.
I quilted it w/this modern panto that brings to mind a fence of “Asian” influence. My friend GayLee thinks it resembles a tree. Regardless, it’s perfect for my quilt.
The layout is an offset barn raising and the quilt is longer than it is wide. But when I put it on the bed, I liked the fit better turned the other way. So now, what were supposed to be wider side borders, are now top/bottom borders.
I am totally in love w/it and can’t stop taking pictures. The fur babies love it too!
Have a fantastic weekend y’all!
