Brown Bag Delight

Even more important than what I would pack to wear while on my work trip to KCKS, was what projects I would take to work on.

I took a few projects, but my most favorite was this adorable lunch tote.

I’ve been wanting to make this lunch tote for quite awhile so I was excited to finally be starting it.

Because it’s a lunch bag,  I had brown paper bags in mind when I chose these pretty browns.

I didn’t want to travel w/a cutting mat larger than the 6″ x 8″ I brought for paper piecing, so I pre-cut everything before I left home.

The pattern gave me a few fits, but after a couple nights, my Brown Bag Delight was finished!

I also finished a few more butterflies for the Festive Flutter Tree wall hanging I’ve been working on. I think I have 3 butterflies left to make.  I didn’t take any pics though, because I was too busy adoring my new lunch tote.

And lastly, I finished the blocks for a Chisel Star lap quilt.

I used the chisel die and my AccuQuilt fabric cutter to cut all the pieces and  I had several blocks pieced before I got to KC, but I finished the rest there.

And here’s a pic of my happy stitchin’ corner in the hotel room.

Can I Get a Whoop Whoop?

A Thread for Life

So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. – Galatians 6:9-10

These Bags Though!

I bought the Boxy Tote pattern and all supplies, not including fabric, probably close to 2yrs ago during a shop hop.

It was even before I owned a Featherweight sewing machine. I bring up the Featherweight because this pattern by Penny Sturges of Quilts Illustrated was designed to carry one.

This is my Viola Davis.

Anyway, I was visiting a friend who makes bags, in addition to tons of other things, on commission. She had just finished a bag for someone and it was made w/the most adorable fabric covered w/quilty notions. It was love at first sight!

Turns out she had some extra she was willing to part with. As soon as she offered my mind went to the Boxy Tote pattern sitting up in my closet and I didn’t hesitate to ask her if she’d make it for me!

And I also remembered how this same wonderful lady let me borrow her pattern for the Caddy Pad Jr. Iron Tote/Pad, at least 2 years ago, so I made a deal with her.

If she’d make me the caddy too,  w/some of that adorable fabric, I’d return her pattern asap. She totally went for it!

Look at all the fancy stitching she did!

It has so many pockets!

I’m totally smitten w/both bags.   I’ll be traveling in style!

And speaking of traveling, if any of you has flown w/a Featherweight I’d like to hear how you did it. I’m thinking/hoping I can just treat it as a carry-on?

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi All! I’m so excited!  Today A Quilted Passion is 2 yrs old! Who would’ve guessed I’d still be blogging 2 years later? Definitely not me! But I am, and it’s all because of you…my wonderful readers/followers and fellow quilters/bloggers! Thank you!
As we all know, when there’s a birthday, gifts are sure to follow.  So to celebrate my blog turning 2 yrs old…and hopefully attract a few more followers, I’m doing a giveaway!
When I was deciding what to give away, my eldest son suggested a purse.  I recently made a couple of purses which he thought were super cool. So that’s what I did! I made a purse for the give away! Thanks Justin! For the idea and for helping w/the fabric choices!

And here it is.  A 2-Way Purse made by yours truly(me)!

The purse does come w/a  few other goodies too!  A 3″ Drunkard’s Path Pattern and Template, a Spinning Hexagon pattern and template, 3 spools of Connecting Threads Essential Cotton Thread(my fave!) in Fuchsia, Jade and Lemon, AND a 5 pk of Schmetz Universal needles!
For your chance to win this awesome 2-Way Purse and goodies, follow me via Google Friend Connect (“My Peeps”), Bloglovin’ or Instagram (all are in the sidebar to the right, underneath my pic –> –> –>) and leave a comment on this post telling me how you are following.  If you are already a follower, leave a comment on this post telling me how you follow and the name of your favorite purse/bag pattern or tutorial. That’s it!

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.  We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Cor 4:7-9
