My Quilty Bucket R1P1

Back in February I wrote about a new system I was starting that would take the stress out of choosing which quilty project to start next. I call it My Quilty Bucket system. I put 20 projects + 4 wild cards in my bucket this first time around. R1P1 = Round 1, Project 1. You can read more about my system in this post.

I pulled Moonlight & Roses on 2/18/2021.

It’s a bargello quilt I found in a book called Bargello Quilts by Marge Edie.

This was my first fabric pull.

I later swapped the blues for teals thinking they’d look better in my house as I was planning on hanging this somewhere in my house but I still haven’t decided where. Anyway, when making Bargello quilts, the most common way to arrange your fabric is from light to dark or vice versa. Look at me sounding like an expert in Bargello making…lol. I am definitely not. This is my 2nd ever Bargello but both times the instructions said to arrange the fabric this way. I remember seeing a tip somewhere that said to take a pic in black & white to better see how to do this, so that’s what I did.

And voila!

Here are the main strips.

This book suggests using separator strips in between the main strips. They can be from the same color runs or one solid color from your runs or something different all together. I made separator strips from the color runs. Here it is on design wall w/the separator strips.

And here’s the flimsy.

Then I quilted it…with organic wavy lines, surprise surprise.

I decided to do a faced binding since it’s supposed to be a wall-hanging, and my dear friend @sunnybunnyquilts who loves handwork, stitched it down for me. Thanks Madonna!

And that’s a wrap!

On to the next one!

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, God Bless & Happy Stitchin’!

A Thread for Life

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:19-25 NIV
