This quilted pillow was my first finish of 2020. It was commissioned by a coworker for his 30th wedding anniversary. Pink and grey were their wedding colors. I was super excited that I had this grey print w/ “lovey dovey” sayings on it such as sweetheart, dearest darling, and cherish. I couldn’t find anyone local w/an embroidery machine who knew how to use it, so I sent it to my good friend Sue in Goodyear AZ w/a note that said “Please do this asap and mail back in the self-addressed stamped envelope!” Thank you Susie Q! His wife loved it!
The next finish is a quilt I’ve been meaning to make for approximately 8 years. It’s for my great niece who turns 9 yrs old in April. I started quilting in 2011, the year she was born. I gave her mom a very basic quilt made out of 10 inch blocks w/the promise that I’d make her a “better” one in the near future. Well, you know how quickly time flies…and here we are in 2020. I think mom will agree, this beauty was worth the wait. And now my great niece is actually old enough to love and appreciate it for herself. Neither of them have seen it, and I’m kind of taking a risk putting it out here, but I’m pretty sure they don’t follow my blog.
It’s a free pattern by Pat Bravo called Heirloom. I had it quilted at Angela Walters’ shop here in Liberty MO, called Quilting Is My Therapy.
I started working on another quilt that I’ve wanted to make for myself ever since I saw Katy’s Sea Sick Scrappy Trips 3 years ago. I’m following Bonnie Hunter’s Scrappy Trips Tutorial and I plan to make a king size. I’ve made 25 of 80 blocks so far. But this is taking the back burner while I work on a barter project and two baby quilts for my expecting nieces.

The pillow is perfect; I’m glad you had a friend who could help with the embroidery. I always find that I can make a little progress on sewing or quilting for myself before setting it aside to make for someone else. I find I savor the time working on my own projects that way, though. 🙂
