Other People’s Orphans

Last week I had to make a quick gift for my grandson’s teacher and a mug rug came to mind.

Part of my stash consists of other people’s orphan blocks and UFOs and I remembered having something that would make a great mug rug for a male teacher.

About 15 mins later I had 2 completed mug rugs. My grandson chose the one on the right. img_2771

Since it only took me 15 mins to make them, I decided to make a couple more.img_2773

And then I dug a little deeper and got all kinds of excited when I came across these 4 matching log cabin blocks that I promptly sewed together to become a  future hand quilted pillow cover!

I almost forgot this lovely OP-UFO! This will soon become a wall hanging!

I hope y’all had a wonderful Christmas.

  1. After my mother passed away, I took her orphan blocks and made mug rugs and chicken pincushions. I gave them to my siblings and cousins to remind them of her. She would have loved it! I think of her whenever I use mine!

  2. Love the log cabin blocks. Can’t wait to see the quilting on your UFO…it’s so bright and colourful.
