WHOOMP There IT Is! #17 Binding Services & Other Updates

If you stopped by last week you read I was going to start offering machine binding services to local quilters in the Phoenix area. I put my info out there (and will keep putting it out there) and I’m anxiously awaiting customers.  I know there are lots of peeps out there who aren’t particularly fond of binding or just don’t have the time, so I’m confident the customers will start trickling in.

Update on the UFO Challenge 2016. February’s number is 8.  This means I will finally be working on my Arkansas Traveler. I’ll be using these precut diamonds that Greta of Material Detachment sent me last January.

I’m making progress on a custom order.  It’s for a queen size rag quilt. I’ve got ALL the squares and batting cut out; all 1260 of them! I’ve started building sandwiches and will start quilting them this weekend.

I did finish the 2 scrappy numbers from last week.

Lap Full of Flowers

And one more thing before we get this party started…I will be having a giveaway at the end of the month, so stay tuned!

Now, let’s see your progress!

  1. Can't wait to see progress on the Arkansas Traveler, love those reds! Cute strippy quilt too! Thank you for hosting the link party! And you are right, there are many that do not like binding, all the best to you!

  2. That's a great idea on the binding! Hopefully you will get folks in soon. It just takes that one and then word of mouth, and you will be covered up! Good luck!

  3. I have a rag quilt partially done in my sewing closet and will finish it this year if I can get to it at the bottom of the heap! How do you get 1260 squares in a queen rag quilt? If the squares are 5″, the most I can fit in is 400.

  4. I absolutely know that if you lived here in Indy, you'd get customers for binding. So many quilters I know love the piecing aspect of quilting, but not necessarily the quilting part, and certainly not binding! I suspect that a lot of customers will be the ones you already have, adding on the cost of binding to your quilting services. But others will come because not many longarmers want to offer the service. Kudos to you, and good luck with the new venture!

  5. You've been so busy! Lovely quilts and I think your commission job is going to be gorgeous. Smart girl to offer binding services! Sorry for loading up your linky but I had lots of good posts this week! Hope that's ok….. 😉
